Union hockey 2014 recruit Pontarelli is finalist for CJHL Top Forward Award
Union hockey 2014 recruit Michael Pontarelli has been named a finalist for the Canadian Junior Hockey League Top Forward Award, it was announced Tuesday.
Pontarelli, who plays for the Cornwall Colts, led the Central Canadian Hockey League in scoring with 52 goals and 55 assists in 53 games. He was named the league's MVP and also won the CCHL's Sportsmanship and Ability Award.
The other finalists are Joakim Arsenault, who had 41 goals and 80 assists for the Ligue de Hockey Junior AAA du Quebec's Sainte-Agathe Montagnards; Tyler Gjurich, who had 53 goals and 44 assists for the Ontatio Junior Hockey League's Buffalo Junior Sabres; Mario Puskarich, who collected 41 goals and 48 assists for the British Columbia Junior Hockey League's Langley Rivermen; and Jesse Sinatynski, who had 43 goals and 50 assists for the Manitoba Junior Hockey League's Dauphin Kings.
The winner will be announced the week of May 6.
