Union defenseman Gostisbehere misses second straight practice
It looks like Union sophomore defenseman Shayne Gostisbehere may not be in the lineup when the 10th-ranked Dutchmen play Capital Region-rival RPI on Friday night at Houston Field House.
Gostisbehere suffered a lower-body injury late in the second period of the Dutchmen's 2-2 tie against Connecticut on Saturday. He played a shift in the first minute of the third period, but didn't get on the ice after that.
Gostisbehere didn't practice Tuesday or Wednesday.
"He tried to go, but he couldn't do it," Union coach Rick Bennett said.
Gostisbehere has two goals and two assists in five games this season. He played in all 41 of Union's games last season and had five goals and 17 assists. He was named to the ECAC Hockey All-Rookie team.
Gostisbehere was selected by the Philadelphia Flyers in the third round of the NHL draft in June. He participated in the U.S. National Development Camp for the team that will represent the United States in the World Junior Championships Dec. 26-Jan. 5 in Ufa, Russia.
