Boyle makes Union debut tonight; Grosenick starts in goal
Freshman defenseman Timothy Boyle makes his Union debut tonight when the eighth-ranked Dutchmen (3-1) face Connecticut (0-2) at 8 p.m. in Storrs, Conn.
Boyle, the brother of New York Rangers center Brian Boyle, was a fourth-round selection of the Ottawa Senators in the NHL draft in June. Boyle will be paired with fellow freshman defenseman Sebastien Gingras.
Junior Troy Grosenick will start in goal. He watched Colin Stevens make 25 saves in Friday's 8-0 shutout over American International.
Sophomore Mark Bennett will play in his first game of the season. He will center the fourth lone.
Here is the Union lineup, starting with the forwards (LW/C/RW):
Daniel Carr/Max Novak/Kevin Sullivan
Matt Hatch/Kyle Bodie/Wayne Simpson
Matt Wilkins/Josh Jooris/Nick Cruice
Cole Ikkala/Mark Bennett/Sam Coatta
The defensive pairings are:
Mat Bodie/Shawn Stuart
Greg Coburn/Shayne Gostisbehere
Timothy Boyle/Sebastien Gingras
I won't be at the game, but I will have updates from the office on Twitter @slapschotts.
