RPI's Gruschow named rookie of the week

RPI freshman forward Alexa Gruschow was named ECAC Hockey rookie of the week on Tuesday.

Gruschow scored two goals in the Engineers' 4-4 tie against Connecticut on Friday. In RPI's 5-3 victory over the Huskies the next day, Gruschow had three assists, including one on the game-winning goal.

Quinnipiac forward Kelly Babstock was named player of the week. She became the first women's player in the program's history to record 100 career points when she got two goals and an assist in Friday's 4-4 tie against Mercyhurst. Babstock had a goal and two assists in Saturday's rematch.

Clarkson's Erica Howe was named goalie of the week. She stopped 56 of 58 shots in a two-game sweep of North Country-rival St. Lawrence.
