SNY names Catalon UConn women's hoop play-by-play announcer

NBC13 (WNYT) sportscaster Andrew Catalon will be the voice of UConn women's basketball on SNY, it was announced Thursday.

Meghan Culmo and Kara Wolters will be the analysts. Kerith Burke as the sideline reporter. Troy native Gary Apple, who hosts SNY's Big East basketball studio shows, will anchor the network's studio coverage.

"It's an honor to be working with the top women's basketball program in the country," Catalon said in a statement. "Growing up in the Northeast, I fully understand the passion UConn fans have for this team and that is very exciting. We will respect and honor that tradition. I am greatly looking forward to working with Meg, Kerith, Kara, Gary and the great team SNY has put together.

SNY will do 20 games.
