New name, same game: 'ECAC Hockey Faceoff Selections' starts this week

The ECAC Hockey game prediction contest is back for the fourth year, and I’ve decided to change the name.

Instead of calling in the “ECAC Hockey Pick ’em Derby,” I’m calling it “ECAC Hockey Faceoff Selections.” I wanted to use a hockey term, and faceoff seemed appropriate.

For those unfamiliar with it, I post my predictions of how ECACH teams will do every Thursday night. Then, readers submit their picks to me by the start of the Friday games, and I keep track of the results each week. Last year, Matthew Ruffini won his first title, unseating two-time champ Still Crazy In Section 17.

The game begins this week with three contests: Union vs. Merrimack and Quinnipiac at Maine on Saturday, and Colgate vs. Niagara on Tuesday.
