Union, Quinnipiac scoreless after first period

Union and Quinnipiac are scoreless after the first period of play in their ECAC Hockey game Friday at Messa Rink.
The 16th-ranked Bobcats had the first eight shots on goal of the game. The eighth-ranked Dutchmen didn't get their first shot until just past the midway point of the first, but then ended up outshooting the Bobcats, 12-11.
Quinnipiac will have 1:40 of power-play time to start the second period after Max Novak was called for boarding in the offensive zone with 20.5 left.
The game marks the return of Dutchmen junior defenseman and team captain Mat Bodie. he missed the last five games with a broken left wrist.
