Lichtenwald, Henry commit to Union (updated)
The Union men's hockey team has received two a verbal commitments Tuesday.
Eli Lichtenwald, 20, is a 6-foot-6, 211-pound forward for the U.S. Hockey League's Omaha Lancers. He has three goals, six assists and 25 penalty minutes in 20 games. Five of his points (one goal, four assists) have come on the power play.
Last year, Lichtenwald had five goals and 14 assists in 42 games for the Lancers.
Lichtenwald, a Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, native, joins fellow Lancer and former Albany Academy player Tyler Hynes (Slingerlands) as Union recruits for next season.
Also joining the Dutchmen, either next season or in 2014-15, is 18-year-old British Columbia Junior Hockey League defenseman Noah Henry. The 6-0, 190-pounder from Seattle started this season with the Penticton Vees, then was traded to the Powell River Kings. In 24 games, he has eight assists. Prior to joining the Vees, Henry played for the Shattuck's St.Mary's Under-16 and Midget Prep teams.
