Sterling has his Ichiro home run call

Monday, July 30, 2012
New York Yankees radio announcer John Sterling comes through with another bad home run call.
Ichrio Suzuki hit his first Yankees homer in the seventh inning Monday night against the Baltimore Orioles. Sterling's call was, "Ichiro, the Yankees' rising sun, says sayonara."
The funny thing is, when Yankees catcher Chris Stewart, who has been with the team all season, hit his first Yankees homer Saturday against the Boston Red Sox, Sterling didn't have a fancy call for it.

Sterling could learn a lot from a classy guy like Vin Scully. Vin doesn't have to resort to clownish phrases, which are designed to draw attention to Sterling rather than the game itself. It amazes me that the Yankees can do no better.
