More Thursday night games on NFL Network

Get ready for more "Thursday Night Football" on NFL Network.

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell announced Friday that the NFL Network will televise five additional regular-season games in 2012 as part of its "Thursday Night Football" package. That means the NFL Network will have 13 games, starting in Week 2. The NFL Network will skip Week 12, which is Thanksgiving Day, because NBC is televising the prime-time game.

"Adding these games to the NFL Network schedule will give more players, teams, and cities the primetime stage," commissioner Goodell said. "Our fans can now get an early start on the NFL weekend in the season’s first 15 weeks."

This will now put pressure on Time Warner Cable to add NFL Network to its system. TWC and the NFL remain at odds over where the channel should placed. The NFL believes it should be on basic. TWC thinks it should be on its Sports Pass lineup, which is an additional $5.95 per month.
