Grosenick out, Stevens starting for Union tonight against Colgate

The lower-body injury suffered by Union goalie Troy Grosenick will prevent him from starting tonight's ECAC Hockey game against Colgate tonight at 7 at Messa Rink.

Freshman Colin Stevens, a Niskayuna native, will be in goal. It will be his first appearance since Dec. 30, when he started against Denver. Stevens allowed two goals on four shots in a 3-1 loss to the Pioneers.

Stevens is 1-2-3 with a 2.40 goals-against average and a .910 save percentage.

Grosenick, who is 14-4-3 a nation's-best 1.58 goals-against average, is listed third on the depth chart. Dillon Pieri is listed as the No. 2 goalie.

Stevens starting is the only change in the lineup. Here is the Union lineup, starting with the forwards (LW-C-RW):
Matt Hatch/Kelly Zajac/Wayne Simpson
Daniel Ciampini/Kyle Bodie/Max Novak
Daniel Carr/Jeremy Welsh/Josh Jooris
Cole Ikkala/Mark Bennett/Sam Coatta

The defensive pairings are
Shawn Stuart/Mat Bodie
Nolan Julseth-White/Taylor Reid
Shane Gostisbehere/Greg Coburn

The 11th-ranked Dutchmen are in first place in the ECACH. No. 20 Colgate is tied for third with Harvard, four points back.

I'll have more on this game later in my pregame report.
