Sinkoff out at WTMM (updates with Sinkoff quotes)
Brian Sinkoff's "Sound-Off with Sinkoff" is no more on WTMM-FM (104.5).
The station announced on its website late Friday that Bruce Jacobs will occupy the 3-7 p.m. time slot starting Tuesday. "Game On with Bruce Jacobs" will be the name of the show.
Sinkoff had been with WTMM since April 2008, hosting not only his show, but serving as program director. Brian Noe replaced Sinkoff as PD in Sept. 2010.
Sinkoff was stunned by the news he received after his show ended Friday.
"I was told they were moving in another direction," Sinkoff said Saturday. "It was a big shocker. The ratings were good. There was a huge following. The show's Facebook page had 4,000 fans. I really loved what I did, and it came across on the air every day."
The spring Arbitron ratings book ranked Sinkoff's show fifth overall in the Male 25-54 demographic in the 3-7 p.m. time slot. In cumulative listeners, the show was second.
Sinkoff, who also does some work for Time Warner Cable Sports, hopes he won't be idle for long.
"I have some irons in the fire," he said. "I'm really excited about the future for me. I hope to talk about that real soon."
Also let go was Sinkoff's producer, Alan Fish.
Jacobs has worked in Phoenix, Chicago and Houston. Most recently, Jacobs held down weekends at FOX Sports Radio on Los Angeles.
Jacobs is a Long Island native.
"After 20 years of being away, it's so great to be home again," Jacobs said on the website. "It's great to be back with the most passionate, hardcore fans in the world."
