Surprising. Not really an upset as Dartmouth is a very good team, but still... I was expecting Union, at home, to win a competitive game.
This one was basically over with 10-12 minutes into the game when Dartmouth went up 3-0. Union's entire first period was awful... kind of lazy, slow, plodding... Dartmouth seemed like they were going much faster and fiercer. On the 1240 AM postgame show, Rick Bennett called the first period Union's worst period of the year.
But give them credit for not letting it turn into a laugher. I thought the two teams played much more equally over the final two periods (especially the second period) but the damage was done.
Union should rebound tomorrow night but have a lot of work to do if they expect to beat Yale a week from now.
