TNT averaged a 3.5 rating for its NBA season-opening double-header coverage last night, Turner Sports announced today. In its press release, Turner Sports said it was the most watched NBA opening night double-header in Turner’s 27 years of tipping off the season.
The first game, featuring the debut of the Miami Heat trio of LeBron James, Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade, against the Boston Celtics, delivered a 4.2 rating, making it the most watched regular season NBA game on cable of all-time, topping the Chicago Bulls vs. L.A. Lakers on Feb. 2, 1996, also on TNT.
The second half of the double-header, featuring the Lakers and Houston Rockets, had a 2.4 rating.
