Rats moving to WROW
By Ken Schott
Sunday, September 27, 2009
The Albany River Rats are close to having a new radio home.
WROW-AM (590) is expected to be the new home of the Rats this season, with the station carrying all 80 games. The Rats had been on WTMM-FM (104.5), but conflicts with the Yankees' and ESPN Radio Major League Baseball playoff broadcasts kept some Rats games off WTMM.
Jonathan Scherzer, who returns to do the play-by-play, expects the deal to be finalized some time this week. The Rats open the season Saturday against the Manchester Monarchs at 7 p.m.
