It's final four time in the ECAC Hockey tournament at the Times Union Center. It's a happy, yet sad time. Happy in that a champion will be decided this weekend. Sad, because I know my college hockey season is coming to an end.
It feels like I haven't had a day off in the last month. But honestly, I don't mind. I live for this.
Now, it's time to analyze Friday's semifinals.
No. 4 St. Lawrence vs. No. 1 Yale
Yale won its first regular season title since 1998, but it has never won a tournament title. St. Lawrence last won the tournament title in 2001.
The Saints took the regular-season series against the Bulldogs, going 1-0-1. Can the Saints do it one more time?
No.
The pick: Yale, 3-2.
No. 3 Princeton vs. No. 2 Cornell
The Feb. 7 game between these two teams cost Cornell a shot at finishing first. The Big Red blew a 1-0 lead in the final minute of the game and lost, 2-1, at Lynah Rink.
You can expect a low-scoring game. The league's top two goalies, Princeton's Zane Kalemba and Cornell's Ben Scrivens, are tough to get puck past.
Both teams are coming off tough quarterfinal series. Having watched the Tigers last weekend against Union, I believe the Tigers are a little stronger than the Big Red.
The pick: Princeton, 2-1.
