Newkirk joins Phantoms
By Ken Schott
Wednesday, July 29, 2009
Owen Newkirk won't have to go too far for his next job.
After being let go by the Albany River Rats at the end of last season, Newkirk has been hired to be the play-by-play voice of the Adirondack Phantoms, the team announced Wednesday.
"It is an honor to be joining the Adirondack Phantoms organization and
to become a part of the great traditions and history of this hockey-rich
community" Newkirk said. "I want to thank [owners] Rob
and Jim Brooks for giving me this opportunity, and I am truly excited to
help usher in the return of AHL hockey to Glens Falls this season."

Will the Phantoms be on a local radio station this year, or will it be internet only?

Johnny, it looks like they will be on a radio station. Not sure which one it will be.
