Parting Schotts
No 'Big Board Sportstalk' next week
There will be no "Big Board Sportstalk" on WOFX-AM (980) next week because host Rodger Wyland will be on vacation.
As I wrote a couple of weeks ago in my "Behind the Broadcast" column, Clear Channel of Albany, which runs WOFX, won't hire a substitute host when Wyland is away. Instead, it will have live airings of "The Dan Patrick Show" at 9 a.m. Patrick's show will still be heard on tape delay at 3 p.m.
If I am a sponsor of "Big Board Sportstalk," I would complain to Clear Channel. The sponsor paid to be on Wyland's show, and expects to have their spots air on that show. If the spots aren't airing, the sponsor should ask for a refund, or pull the spots all together from future shows.
Then we will see how quickly Clear Channel hires a substitute host.

Mickey Mouse move by Clear Channel. Why not show The Drive live at 3 and Dan Patrick live at 9 AM? Why show the boring arrogant Patrick for six hours?
National Sports talk radio is really hurting. Jim Rome is stale and hasn't been fresh for years; Colin Cowherd is a study in hyperbole; Van Pelt offers nothing but pollyanna and Patrick thinks the world---of himself.
These are the best we can get?
