After being dropped by WOFX-AM (980) late last week, the New York Jets have a new radio home in the Capital Region.
WTMM-FM (104.5) will carry the Jets this season, station program director Brian Sinkoff announced Thursday.
Adding the Jets gives Regent Communications, owners of the WTMM, two NFL teams. WQBJ-FM (103.5) and WQBK-FM (103.9) have the Buffalo Bills.
WTMM also carries the Yankees, and Sinkoff said that the Yanks will have first priority over the Jets in September and any playoff games in October. The Jets will have priority over any Major League Baseball playoff games that WTMM carries from ESPN Radio.
"We are happy that 104.5 'The Team" ESPN Radio will be the home for New York Jets football in 2009," Sinkoff said. "I think anytime you can say that you’re the home for an NFL franchise, it shows the listeners that you are serious about covering teams that matter to them.
"The addition of the New York Jets to an impressive lineup of live play-by-play that already includes the New York Yankees and Notre Dame Football only adds value of 104.5 'The Team' to the sports fan here in this market."
WTMM will carry two Jets preseason games: Aug. 24 against the Baltimore Ravens and Aug. 29 against the Giants.
