Tim Mack, who has been the weekend sports anchor at WRGB (Ch. 6) for the past 7 1/2 years, is leaving the station for a job in the private sector, sports director Doug Sherman said Wednesday.
Mack gave his notice to station management last Friday. His last day will be Sept. 21.
Sherman said the station will search for a replacement.
Mack’s departure means WRGB won’t have its “Fifth Quarter” high school football highlight show on Friday nights during the 11 p.m. newscast.
That leaves WXXA (Ch. 23) and WTEN (Ch. 10) as the only stations to have high school football highlight shows. WXXA’s “High School Sports Show” will have a 15-minute show on Fridays starting at 10:45 p.m., and a 30-minute show Saturdays beginning at 10:30 p.m. The Friday show, which used to air at 11 p.m. and run a half-hour, was moved because of the gossip program “TMZ” occupies the 11 p.m. slot.
WTEN’s “1st and 10” airs Fridays at 11:15 p.m.
