O'Donnell named weekend sports anchor at WRGB

Kelly O’Donnell, a reporter for Gol TV, is the new weekend sports anchor at WRGB (Ch. 6), news director Lisa Jackson announced Thursday.

O’Donnell, a 2002 graduate of Syracuse University, replaces Tim Mack, who left the station last month. O’Donnell’s first day at WRGB is Nov. 5.

“We’re looking forward to him,” Jackson said. “He’s just a good, solid sports reporter. [He’s] great on the anchor desk, and just genuinely a nice person. I think he’s going to work great in the market. He’s going to be a big help to our sports team.”

Gol TV is a soccer cable channel based out of Miami.

O’Donnell has also worked at WTBY-TV Dothan, Ala., WYSL radio in Rochester and WAER radio in Syracuse.
