Maybe the NHL is finally catching on at Versus.
Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Eastern Conference semifinal series between the Pittsburgh Penguins and the New York Rangers earned Versus a 1.0 cable rating. It was the most-watched NHL telecast in network history among total viewers (1,184,519), and the third most-watched telecast overall.
A 1.0 rating may not seem like much, but considering that ratings the past two years have been under 1, this is a big accomplishment for Versus.
Some other stats from Versus
— The game made the network the No. 1-rated cable network for the time period (7-9:45 p.m.) among men 18-34 (1.3) and men 18-49 (1.2).
— Versus garnered a 2.1 rating in the New York market, making it the top-rated cable network in New York for the time period. To date, this is the highest rated NHL on Versus telecast in New York.
— The game received an astounding 15.3 rating in the Pittsburgh market, making it the best rating in the market ever on the network for an NHL telecast. Versus was the No. 1-rated TV network in Pittsburgh for the time period, among both broadcast and cable nets.

I really like hockey (from Buffalo originally) and nobody wants to see hockey get better ratings more than I. Those numbers are a good sign.
And, unlike the clowns at ESPN, who have decided to ignore the NHL, Versus does a great job covering the games. I especially love it when they get the feed from CBC. I grew up watching CBC's Hockey Night in Canada as a kid, and find it comforting, though I did fall asleep in overtime number 2 of Sharks-Stars.
I have Dallas beating Pittsburgh in the SC. I picked Dallas from the beginning, even though I don't like'em. Turco has been stellar.
The series I want is Detroit-Pittsburgh, sorry Ken.
