Tired of whining Sterling and Waldman
The Yankees-Pirates game is in a rain delay at 8:51 p.m., and I am so thankful.
As I was driving to work following my son’s Little League farm game at Carman (a 2-1 10-inning win, and my son had a single!), annoying Yankees play-by-play man John Sterling began whining about the final game of the three-game series being played at night instead of during the day because the Yankees have to fly back to New York to play the Mets at 2 p.m. Friday at Yankee Stadium in a day-night, two-stadium double-header. Sterling and his co-hort, Suzyn Waldman, both said that Major League Baseball should look into this. And it’s not the first time these two have complained about it.
For starters, why don’t they criticize the Yankees for deciding to make up the game with the Mets, which was rained out Friday, May 16, the day after a road trip. The Yankees could have played a day-night double-header on either May 17 or 18. The May 17 game was a 1 p.m. game, so surely the Yankees and Mets could have played at 7 p.m. Or, with the two teams playing the ESPN “Sunday Night Baseball” game on May 18, the rainout game could have been played at 1 p.m. that afternoon. But Sterling and Waldman, bleeding pinstripes, conveniently ignored that fact.
I have a solution for Sterling and Waldman if they don’t want the Yankees to play a getaway game at night: Have the Yankees revert to their mediocre years between 1982 and 1993. Maybe then the opposing teams will schedule those getaway games in the afternoon.
I am tired of these two whiners.
