Some bonus TV notes for you today.

— Scott MacKay, long-time sports producer at WNYT (Ch. 13), has been let go by the station.

MacKay was given a choice to take a buyout, or work part-time. He chose the buyout. It's big loss for the station. Someone has to make Rodger Wyland look good, right? Only kidding, Rodger!

— The Golf Channel and Versus, which shared a channel on Time Warner Cable's high definition tier, now have their own channels.

Versus, which began broadcasting in HD 24 hours a day this week, will have HD channel 1873 to itself. The Golf Channel HD moves from channel 1873 to 1865.

— There will be plenty of local college basketball action on TW-3 next week.

It starts Monday with a Saint Rose double-header against Bentley. The women play at 5:30 p.m., and the men start at 7:30 p.m. On Tuesday, the Siena men host Marist ay 7 p.m. On Wednesday, it's a women's game between Villanova and Binghamton. On Saturday, UAlbany hosts Canisius at 7 p.m.

Ken, on a somewhat related note, I've noticed that as a Time-Warner subscriber we are missing a lot of Rangers games and the other night the game with the Penguins (a great one by the way) was only on in LD(?) on one of the lower tier stations, I think it was MSG plus. Do you know what's up with this?

And BTW, the only way Wyland looks good is on radio! I hope Scott McKay makes out well. These are tough times indeed.

Dutchman, the Rangers-Pens game was moved to MSG Plus (the old Fox Sports Net New York) because MSG had the Knicks-Cavs.

Is TWC adding the Big Ten Network to its lineup?

I assume that they are also adding the MLB Network soon as well.
