RPI hockey to be seen on ESPNU next Sunday
Thursday, December 4, 2008

RPI hockey will get some national exposure next Sunday.

ESPNU will televise the Engineers' game against Miami (Ohio) from Oxford, Ohio. Air time is 4:30 p.m. The game had been originally scheduled to be played at 5 p.m.

This is the first time RPI will appear on ESPNU, which can be seen locally on Time Warner Cable’s digital package as well as on DIRECTV and DISH Network. Ben Holden will handle the play-by-play, and Sean Ritchlin will be the analyst.

Is this a good thing? The Division III Engineers? I'll be rooting for them, though.

Being nice and being fair are two different things. I root hard for the Engineers, believe me. In the 1980s and 1990s, both RPI and Bowling Green had very good programs; now both are sufering. What has happened?

Kenny, will RPI/Union ever play RIT? I used to go to many Tigers games when they dominated at the Division III level and it's good to see that they're having some success at Division I.

I think somewhere down the road Union and RPI will schedule RIT again. In the wake of Atlantic Hockey's success last weekend, it would make sense. They would be competitive games.

And you're right about being fair and being nice are two different things. It's nice RPI will be on national TV, but the way its playing right now, it could be a rough game to watch.
