We had an Olympic team training session at San Jose State from 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday, and it went very well for all the athletes.
The head coach of the San Jose State program is four-time Olympian and 1987 world champion Mike Swain, who welcomed us and wished the team well. Jason Morris Judo Center's Jeremy Liggett got a chance to work out with Swain and took a photo with him.
The team then went to processing at 2 p.m. We received our Team USA apparel, which included podium and parade wear, shoes, luggage, T-shirts & polo shirts.
We then took the team photos. We finished processing at 6 p.m., then went directly to a good-luck dinner with some of the San Jose State judo coaches, including Swain and Yosh Uchida, the head director and founder of the San Jose State Judo Club.
We head to the San Francisco airport at 7a.m. Thursday for an 11 a.m. direct flight to Beijing. The drive to San Francisco airport will take about an hour.
The team is getting along very well so far, and everyone's spirit are high as the excitement is building for our trip to China.
