Rotterdam supervisor-elect went from humble origins to new heights

Life was anything but easy growing up on Cutler Street during the early 1940s. At the time, the bustling street in Schenectady’s Mont Pleasant neighborhood was crowded with low-income and immigrant families. Poverty was common, and there was seldom time to do anything but work.

Rats Clear Day list

Here is the list of 20 skaters and two goaltenders the River Rats submitted to the AHL by yesterday's 3 p.m. deadline.

Only the players on the Clear Day list are eligible to play for the rest of the season and the playoffs, barring an emergency situation due to injury, illness, recall or suspension. It also doesn't include any college or junior players on amateur tryouts, who can be added after their season is over.

Blanchard, Borer, Gillies, Jensen and Paiement are all injured. Borer is done for the year, Blanchard may be, also. Pospisil was added on loan from the AHL's Chicago Woves today (more on that in a later post). Sutter is the only player eligible to come down from the Carolina Hurricanes.
