Two former Albany River Rats forwards will be with new teams next season.
Ben Guite, who played junior hockey for Jim Salfi's Clifton Park-based Capital District Selects, was signed as an unrestricted free agent by the Nashville Predators. There, he'll join ex-Rat right wing Steve Sullivan, recently named the NHL's Masterton Trophy winner.
Guite, who turns 31 on Friday, spent the last 2 1/2 seasons in the NHL with Colorado. One of the league's best faceoff men, he was limited to 50 games in 2008-09 by injury, finishing with 12 points (5g, 7a).
Johnson, 27, played for TPS Turku in Finland last season, ranking third in team scoring with 28 points (8g, 20a) in 42 games. He led the Rats in scoring in 2007-08 with 58 points (21g, 37a) in 79 games. He signed a one-year contract with the Florida Panthers, whose AHL farm team is in Rochester.
