The Pimlico Special may be best known for the 1938 match race where Seabiscuit defeated 1937 Triple Crown winner War Admiral. Feeling a bit nostalgic? You can watch the race and hear the classic call on YouTube.
Nine horses were entered today for the Special, led by 5-2 program favorite A.P. Arrow, trained by Todd Pletcher. Second choice at 3-1 is Grasshopper, who ran a narrow second to 2007 Derby winner Street Sense in last summer's Grade I Travers at Saratoga.
Also in are Wanderin Boy, at 7 the elder statesman of the group, from Hall of Famer Nick Zito; Grade I million-dollar winner Student Council; and Xchanger, last year's Preakness pacesetter who faded to eighth and is the only horse in he field with a win over the track.
The field (horse, trainer, jockey, odds), from the rail out:
1. Ryan's For Real (Dale Capuano, Erick Rodriguez), 10-1; 2. Gottcha Gold (Eddie Plesa, C.C. Lopez), 9-2; 3. Student Council (Steve Asmussen, Shaun Bridgmohan), 6-1; 4. A.P. Arrow (Pletcher, Ramon Dominguez), 5-2; 5. Xchanger (Mark Shuman, Garrett Gomez), 20-1; 6. Wanderin Boy (Zito, Kent Desormeaux), 8-1; 7. Grasshopper (Neil Howard, Robby Albarado), 3-1; 8. Sir Whimsey (Jimmy Toner, Edgar Prado), 10-1; 9. Temporary Saint (Bruce Levine, John Velazquez), 10-1.

Great to see the Pimlico Special back in the mix. How does Pimlico look? I used to live in Baltimore and I would describe the ol' track as tired. Has it changed? A few years ago, there was talk of perhaps moving the Preakness to another track. I just can't see that, can you? Tradition is tradition.
Didn't see the William Donald Schaefer Handicap on the Preakness undercard. Any information?
