A case for the defense
Thursday, March 20, 2008

Congrats to Clarkson senior Nick Dodge, who was named ECAC Hockey's top defensive forward at tonight's awards banquet.

A sixth-round pick of the Carolina Hurricanes, 186th overall, in 2006, Dodge is like the rest of the Golden Knights awaiting their NCAA fate. What'll happen there, I'll leave to experts such as Ken Schott and ... well, Ken is expert enough for all of us.

As I posted earlier today, the Canes are eagerly waiting to see what will happen as well, because they'll be interested in signing the 5-foot-10, 175-pound Dodge once the college season is over and bring him to Albany for a look-see.

One of six NHL draft picks on Clarkson's roster, Dodge was fourth in team scoring with 26 points (12-14), third in shots (115) and finished a plus-8 with 24 penalty minutes. He is 52-72-124 in 148 career NCAA games.
