Mohawk farm market
Tuesday, December 2, 2008

The 3rd Annual Mohawk Valley Market is slated for Saturday, Dec. 6 in Fultonville. The Montgomery County Agriculture Economic Development Project and Cornell Cooperative Extension are sponsoring this one-day event showcasing local farmers and producers throughout Fulton and Montgomery counties.

This year the winter market is moving to a new location, the Econolodge, formerly Poplar’s restaurant in Fultonville. The event features over 15 farms and businesses as well as the Cornell Cooperative Extension Master Gardeners.

Each year the markets have retained outstanding local producers while attracting new vendors and products. New additions this winter include Bird Haven Bakery of Fort Plain, WillowPlace Farm of Canajoharie, and Kute ‘N Kuddly Country Farms of Mayfield. Creek’s Edge elk farm has an extended list and now offers pre-cooked elk meatballs.

A wide variety of products will be available for purchase including pasture raised chicken eggs, whoopie pies, baked goods, maple syrup, jellies, homemade peanut butter, dried soup mixes, apples, cider donuts, honey, cheddar cheeses, cheese curds, sauces, elk meat, grass-fed beef, natural pork, blueberry jam, cookie platters, artisan breads, local pottery, herbal hot packs, knitted items, alpaca yarn, handmade weaving supplies, beeswax candles, goat milk soaps, potholders, cookbooks and much more.

The event will be held indoors at the Econolodge, 123 Riverside Drive, across from NYS thruway exit 28, Fultonville. Market hours are from 9am - 2pm. Admission is free and there is plenty of parking available.

Please contact Cornell Cooperative Extension at 518-762-3909 for more details about this project.
