Green building workshop for non-profits
The Saratoga County Arts Council and the New York Multi-Arts Center Consortium, a statewide organization serving 48 art centers, will present a workshop Thursday on maintaining and improving arts facilities, adopting “green” building practices, and meeting state building code requirements for 2008. The workshop will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Thursday April 24, at The Arts Center, 320 Broadway, Saratoga Springs.
The event will provide non-profit organization staff, board members, volunteers, and the general public information on how to make their buildings more energy-efficient and environmentally friendly, and to learn about the newly revised New York state building and fire code regulations. Public organizations in historic and/or “adaptive reuse” buildings and those planning new construction will find the presentations particularly valuable.
The workshop is sponsored by the Architecture Planning and Design Program and the State and Local Partnership Program of the New York State Council on the Arts, with additional support from JP Morgan Chase Foundation.
For fees and more information, contact the Saratoga County Arts Council, 584-4132. Registration forms are available here.

The brochure, available through the CPC site, here, encourages consumers to choose nontoxic, inexpensive cleaning products, lists common homemade cleaners and supplies and provides instructions on how to use them.
The Kids Home Energy Page consists of two publications, “Energy-Saving Tips” and “The Family Home Energy Quiz” providing “kid-friendly” advice about global warming and how to conserve energy to save valuable resources for our planet. The quiz helps families determine their home’s energy efficiency.
