NFL Picks, Week 15
Every year I participate in a Pigskin Pick ’em group organized by an obnoxious friend of mine from high school who spends his Sundays doing nothing but watching NFL football. I spend very little time watching football, and yet I continue to dream of beating him. And so every week I dutifully make my picks.
As always, the winning team is in caps.
San Diego Chargers at DENVER BRONCOS — Another week, another win for the Broncos.
Washington Redskins at ATLANTA FALCONS — Ugh, is there a more dysfunctional team in the NFL right now then the Redskins? They are not going to win this game, and it’s quite possible that they will never win again.
Buffalo Bills at JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS — How weird: I picked the Jaguars to win without thinking twice about it. They’ve come a long way from their horrid 0-8 start.
CHICAGO BEARS at Cleveland Browns — Chicago is playing reasonably well behind backup QB Jake McCown. They’ll pick up their eighth win of the season this week in Cleveland.
Houston Texans at INDIANAPOLIS COLTS — Houston is pretty pathetic, though not as pathetic as the Washington Redskins. Last week they fired coach Gary Kubiak, but the losing will continue through the end of the season, and perhaps beyond.
NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS at Miami Dolphins — Last week’s Patriots-Cleveland game was sad, sad, sad. When I first heard about Gronk’s injury, I thought it was a joke. But it wasn’t. I’m still picking the Pats to beat the Dolphins, even though they are clearly not as good as they were in week 14, and I wouldn’t be surprised if Miami won.
PHILADELPHIA EAGLES at Minnesota Vikings — The Eagles are on fire! They have won five games in a row and they will make it six in a row with a win over the Vikings!
SEATTLE SEAHAWKS at New York Giants — I was happy to see the Giants get eliminated from playoff contention. On a day full of sad Gronk news, the Giants’ lousy season brought a smile to my face. When they lose to Seahawks this weekend, I’ll be positively gleeful.
SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS at Tampa Bay Buccaneers — Tampa Bay has been better in recent weeks. But they’re not good enough to beat the 49ers.
KANSAS CITY CHIEFS at Oakland Raiders — Kansas City should win this pretty easily.
New York Jets at CAROLINA PANTHERS — The Panthers have lost two games in a row. A home game against Team Blowhard should get them back on the right track.
Green Bay Packers at DALLAS COWBOYS — Without QB Aaron Rodgers, Green Bay is no match for the Dallas Cowboys.
ARIZONA CARDINALS at Tennessee Titans — The surprisingly good Arizona Cardinals will beat the disappointing Tennessee Titans.
NEW ORLEANS SAINTS at St. Louis Rams — The Saints are looking very good of late, and should beat the Rams pretty easily.
CINCINNATI BENGALS at Pittsburgh Steelers — This is the exact sort of game you can’t trust Cincinnati to win. I’m picking them anyway, though.
Baltimore Ravens at DETROIT LIONS — This is the exact sort of game you can’t trust Detroit to win. I’m picking them anyway, though.
Last week’s results:
Me: 13-3 Overall: 132-75
My obnoxious friend: 14-2 Overall 135-72
