Vegan Thanksgiving
Monday, November 17, 2008

JOHNSTOWN – The Vegan Venue is hosting a Gentle Thanksgiving Feast from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 28 at the Johnstown Senior Center, 109 E Main Street, in an effort to encourage friends, family and neighbors to adopt compassionate alternatives to turkey dinners.

“We’re turning ‘Black Friday’ green,” says board member Jennie Kerwood, noting that animal agriculture accounts for more global pollution than automobiles.

The Gentle Feast menu includes Turken (un-turkey), corn cobbler, garlic mashed potatoes, savory stuffing, groovy gravy, cracklin’ cranberries, perfect pumpkin pie, free-trade coffee, tea and sparking juice.

Everything is vegan (free of animal ingredients) and demonstrates the great taste and superior nutrition of gourmet vegan recipes and festive plant-based foods.

Information about vegan lifestyles and recipes will be provided, and the video “The Making of a Turkey” will be shown.

Gentle Thanksgiving is open to the public. Donations are requested to help cover expenses; however, no one will be turned away. Those interested in participating should call (518) 762-6364 by Nov. 20 and provide your name, phone number and total number of people attending.

The Vegan Venue, Inc. is a not-for-profit vegan information and outreach organization formed for the educational purposes of advocating social change to a vegan lifestyle to benefit health, the environment and for the prevention of cruelty to animals and an end to their exploitation, abuse and suffering.
