Sasha and Malia, 4 years later

Our website allows us to show our readers many more photos than we could ever get in the paper. In the case of a presidential election, we rely on the photographers at The Associated Press, who provided us with dozens of fascinating photos last night and early this morning.

The key photo we wanted and needed, however, was a shot of the winner of the presidential race (President Obama) giving his victory speech. Our printed edition doesn't have that photo simply because Obama didn't make that speech until past 1:30 a.m. By then, our press was already running.

Thanks to the web, you can see images from that speech on our website.

Included online is a nice shot of the Obama family, with daughters Sasha and Malia.

Looking at that photo early this morning, I recalled a similar image from page A1 on Election Night back in 2008. As happens, the girls have really grown and we've put the two photos side-by-side here for comparison.
