Readers of DailyGazette.com are showing no mercy towards soon-to-be-former Gov. Eliot Spitzer.
In a poll that was posted on the Web site Monday afternoon and ran until just after Spitzer announced his resignation late this morning, 81 percent of the nearly 700 people who cast votes said Spitzer should resign.
That the majority of readers said he should quit is probably no surprise, but the vastness of that majority overwhelmed the 70 percent who said he should resign in a WNBC/Marist poll released Tuesday.
And that is even further trumped by the early results of the latest DailyGazette.com poll, which was posted right after Spitzer announced his resignation and asks if he should be prosecuted. While only 49 percent of respondents to the Marist poll said Spitzer should be prosecuted even if he resigns, so far 66 percent of DailyGazette.com readers said he should be prosecuted.
Of course, we must add the disclaimer that while the Marist poll was scientifically conducted, the DailyGazette.com polls are not scientific.
