Another Tampa Bay prospect named AHL MVP
The AHL announced Friday the winner of the Les Cunningham Award for the league MVP is Tyler Johnson of the Syracuse Crunch.
Last year, the award went to Norfolk's Cory Conacher when the Admirals were the AHL affiliate of the Tampa Bay Lightning. The Lightning switched their affiliation to Syracuse before the start of this season, and have for the second consecutive season seen one of their prospects named the top player in the AHL.
Johnson, in his second professional season, has 33 goals and 27 assists in 60 games with Syracuse. His goal total is tied for the league lead. He also has a plus-24 rating and 12 power-play goals. He played in the All-Star Game and was a member of the league's First All-Star Team.
