NJ assigns 24 to Albany
The New Jersey Devils announced Saturday the assignment of 24 players to the Albany Devils of the American Hockey League. Also, three players were returned to their junior teams.
The players assigned to Albany include 13 forwards — Matt Anderson, Jean-Sebastien Berube, Bobby Butler, Adam Henrique, Mike Hoeffel, Jacob Josefson, Harri Pesonen, Tim Sestito, Mike Sislo, Mattias Tedenby, Chad Wiseman, David Wohlberg and Steve Zalewski.
The seven defensemen assigned include Brandon Burlon, Eric Gelinas, Dan Kelly, Adam Larsson, Jay Leach, Alexander Urbom and Harry Young.
Four goaltenders were assigned to Albany. They are Maxime Clermont, Jeff Frazee, Keith Kinkaid and Scott Wedgewood.
With the NHL lockout, many clubs will send some of their young players on two-way contracts to the AHL, where their development can continue, until a labor agreement is reached.
The three players sent back to their junior squads are forward Stefan Matteau (Blainville of the QMJHL), defenseman Reece Scarlett (Swift Current of the WHL) and defenseman Damon Severson (Kelowna of the WHL).
