Corrente done for season

The Albany Devils released a statement from general manager Chris Lamoriello on Saturday delivering the bad news on defenseman Matt Corrente's shoulder injury, which he suffered in Sunday's win at Connecticut:

“Yesterday, Matt underwent successful surgery on his shoulder. As a result, he is expected to miss the remainder of the regular season.”

The Devils have eight defensemen remaining on the roster, six of which were healthy entering the weekend.

The healthy Albany defensemen include Adam Larsson, Alexander Urbom, Brandon Burlon, Eric Gelinas, Dan Kelly and Corbin McPherson.

Captain Jay Leach and rookie Raman Hrabarenka were recovering from injuries this week. Leach is working back from a lower-body injury and was "doubtful" for the weekend, coach Rick Kowalsky said on Thursday. He was uncertain at the time, but thought Hrabarenka may be available for the weekend. The Belarusian rookie had his foot cut by a skate in practice Dec. 6.
