Voting on future of Middleburgh

By David Lombardo
Tuesday, February 19, 2013

Voters today will decide the fate of the village of Middleburgh.

A majority of village residents could decide to end the 132-year-old village. Voting started at noon today at the Middleburgh Town Hall and continues until 9 p.m.

The full story on today's vote by Ed Munger can be found HERE.

Today's vote was spearheaded by former Mayor Gary Hayes, who submitted a petition in October. He told Munger on Monday that the issue is money.

“It’s an economic issue. We in the village have been subsidizing town taxes since we’ve been a village,” Hayes said. “It’s a double layer of taxation.”
