Schoharie County slams NY SAFE Act

By David Lombardo
Friday, February 15, 2013

The Schoharie County Board of Supervisors voted today to oppose portions of Gov. Andrew Cuomo's sweeping gun violence legislation.

The board also voted to condemn the rushed passage of the legislation, which was signed into legislation less than a day after it was introduced.

Last month, Supervisor Larry Bradt, R-Carlisle, called on residents and officials to sign on to a petition calling for a repeal of “this crazy law.”.

Bradt, chairman of the board’s Law Enforcement Committee, said passing a law that impacts so many people without public comment robs residents of due process.

“This is one of the reasons the people in this state don’t trust government,” he said.

More on this meeting will be available later.
