Investigation uncovers public employee drinking on job
Improper supervision at an Albany-based steam plant led to on-the-job drinking and unauthorized use of break room, where employees allegedly watched "Dancing with the Stars" while at work, according to a report from the state Inspector General's Office.

“Only a few years after my office uncovered a significant dereliction of management responsibility leading to grossly improper behavior at [the state Office of General Services], blatant waste, abuse and potentially hazardous conduct continued; management fell far short of what New Yorkers rightfully expect of their government,” said state Inspector General Catherine Leahy Scott in a statement. “During the course of my investigation, I disclosed these management failures to the current OGS administration so that immediate corrective action could be taken. OGS has implemented important steps to fortify management oversight and will continue to take measures to do so.”
