Rotterdam police chief looking ahead?

Rotterdam Police Chief James Hamilton isn't retiring quite yet, but he's starting to think about what he'll do when he does decide to step away from his law enforcement career with the town.

Earlier this year, Hamilton set up a limited liability corporation called J2C2 Consulting. The new firm lists the chief's home address as its headquarters, with a Web page that says the business will provide "office management and business consulting" services.

"I'm really not active with it now," he said.

Hamilton said he's just laying out plans for his future and intends to create a general consulting firm when he does retire. But that retirement date isn't any time in the near future.

Hamilton said he plans to stay on the job at least through the end of the year. He also didn't discount staying through 2014.

"I certainly have no immediate plans," he said.
