Candidates take messages to the small screen

By David Lombardo
Saturday, September 8, 2012

George Amedore is a small business owner, and he will take those ethics with him when he represents the 46th Senate District, which stretches from Montgomery County down to Ulster County.

That's his message in a 30-second spot that is on local channels in Ulster County right now. A campaign spokesman for Amedore said the ad will likely be broadcast throughout the district before the general election in November. The district includes Montgomery, Schenectady, Albany, Greene and Ulster Counties.

Lost in the ad, which can be seen below, is the fact that Amedore is currently a Republican member of the Assembly. In fact, the extremely positive ad pokes fun at advertisements from "politicians."

His opponent in the 46th Senate District will be decided on Sept. 13, when three Democrats square off against each other in a primary election.

Also on the air is Assembly candidate Kevin Frazier.

His 30-second ad highlights the support his campaign has received from local legislators, like retiring Assembly members Bob Reilly and Ron Canestrari. After noting those endorsements, Frazier begins laying out his campaign pledges, but they're hard to digest when you're getting swept away by the advertisement's very uplifting theme music.

Frazier is running in a four-way Democratic primary and a four-way Independence primary on Sept. 13.
