Audit: Saratoga Springs Housing Authority needs to do better
An audit released today by the New York State Comptroller's Office found lax spending controls at the Saratoga Housing Authority.
The review found the housing authority didn't compensate its executive director appropriately, going well beyond the salary range for nearby housing authority directors. Additionally, auditors found the authority didn't have appropriate checks on conference attendance and travel claim expenditures.
A copy of the audit is available below and a story on the audit is available HERE.
“Taxpayers and tenants of the Housing Authority shouldn’t have to question if their money is being used appropriately,” said New York State Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli in a statement. “Officials should immediately address the financial risks uncovered in this audit and commit to improving the tone at the top as they move forward.”
