Tkaczyk first to bare campaign funds in 46th Senate District (UPDATED)
Duanesburg Central School District Board of Education President Cecilia Tkaczyk is the first candidate in the 46th Senate District to reveal her campaign war chest.
The Democratic hopeful has $69,721.46 to spend, according to a report just filed with the New York State Board of Elections. Since announcing her candidacy in March, her campaign has raised almost $75,000, a third of which has come from the candidate in loans or contributions, and spent about $4,500.
The campaign has also received about $7,500 in two contributions from Sen. Liz Krueger, D-Manhattan, and the political action committee she controls.
Tkaczyk highlighted the 153 contributors who gave $250 or less, saying this was evidence of "strong grass-roots support" for her campaign. "I'm very happy with where I'm at. I think it shows a strong grass-roots support."
Moving forward, she predicted her fundraising numbers would improve even more, as Democrats would rally around her once she wins the Sept. 13 primary.
No filings have yet been submitted from the other Democrats vying for the nomination, Coeymans Town Board member Tom Dolan and Hispanic Coalition NY President Monica M. Arias Miranda.
There also hasn't been a filing yet from Republican candidate Assemblyman George Amedore, R-Rotterdam.
But he did reveal that there is about $52,000 in his Assembly campaign, which he previously told the Gazette would be shifted into his Senate campaign committee at some point. He will likely be able to shift that entire amount too, as his recent filing shows that the Republican Assembly Campaign Committee has forgiven $75,000 Amedore's Assembly campaign owed it from 2007.
UPDATE (11:40 a.m.): Assemblyman George Amedore has $325,000 to spend on his campaign for the newly created 46th Senate District, which stretches from Montgomery County down to Ulster County, and could determine control of the state Senate.
According to a member of his campaign, Amedore, R-Rotterdam, had raised about $300,000, spent about $25,000 and has about $275,000 left to spend before the general election. This number is augmented by about $52,000 left in his Assembly campaign, which can be spent on this race.
“This is just the beginning,” Amedore said of his July campaign finance report. He added that the strong showing demonstrated an enthusiasm for his candidacy.

Miranda's filing showed that she has almost $13,000 to spend, after loaning her campaign $20,000. The filing is available below.
