Schenectady County Legislator Angelo Santabarbara will officially announce his candidacy for the state Assembly's 111th District on Sunday.

The Rotterdam Democrat will make his announcement at 1 p.m. in front of Proctors in downtown Schenectady. Santabarbara received unanimous endorsements from the committees in Schenectady, Albany and Montgomery counties.

Santabarbara plans to tout his record of staving off tax increases during his two terms as a county legislator. If elected, he said he'd like to bring a message of fiscal conservatism to Albany.

“I want to campaign hard and I want to get my message out,” he said.

Tom Quackenbush, the former chairman of the Montgomery County Board of Supervisors, announced his run for the seat on the Republican ticket last week.
