Congressional candidate interviews
Friday, August 29, 2008

For the past couple weeks on my radio show on WVTL-AM (AM 1570) in Amsterdam (www.1570wvtl.com), we have aired separate telephone interviews with each of the seven candidates for Congress in the 21st District.

The seat is being vacated by incumbent Democrat Mike McNulty of Green Island.

There is a five-way race in the Democratic primary and a two-way race in the Republican primary. The primary election is Tuesday, September 9.

Hear what the candidates have to say on the issues and the race itself. Each interview is about ten minutes long:

- For Democrat Tracey Brooks, an Albany County attorney and former aide to U.S. Sen. Hillary Clinton, click here.

- For Republican James Buhrmaster, head of Buhrmaster Energy Group in Scotia and a Schenectady County Legislator, click here.

- For Democrat Darius Shahinfar, an attorney in Albany and former aide to U.S. Rep. Kirsten Gillibrand, click here.

- For Democrat Phil Steck, an attorney and Albany County Legislator, click here.

- For Democrat Joe Sullivan, who describes himself as the conservative candidate in the Democratic primary, click here.

- For former Amsterdam Assemblyman Paul Tonko, a Democrat, click here.

- For Republican Steve Vasquez, an entrepreneur and RPI graduate, click here.
