Whitney viewing stand will be open until Nov. 10

The recently built Whitney viewing stand at the Oklahoma Training Tack in Saratoga Springs will stay open every weekend until Nov. 10, according to a news release.

Visitors can come to the track from 7:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. by accessing the gate on East Avenue, with parking near the stand. The stand was built in conjunction with the Saratoga 150 celebrations and provided unprecedented recent access to the training track.

"Now visitors may enjoy a cup of coffee or tea as the sun rises over the beautiful track and the horses go through their monring workouts," said NYRA Board member and Saratoga 150 committee co-chair Charlie Wait in a statement. "It is unique to Saratoga and a memory visitors will never forget."

A coffee truck will nearby selling coffee at $1 per cup.

Visitors are reminded that loud noises and quick movements can bother the thoroughbreds.

Wait said he hopes the access to the training track could attract new fans to the sport.
