Martin throws hat into the ring for city supervisor
Democrat Peter Martin officially announced his candidacy for city supervisor today at Lillian's Restaurant.
Martin, a former corporate lawyer who is currently serving as Saratoga County clerk by gubernatorial appointment, is seeking the seat now held by Democrat Joanne Yepsen, who is running for mayor this year.
Martin said he is concerned that decisions at the county level have been made in back rooms. "If elected, I guarantee the sunshine of full public disclosure that is necessary for efficient, effective and open county government," he said.
Martin said he's concerned that not enough is being done at the county level to plan for the infrastructure needs of growing communities, including Saratoga Springs.
"Growth is coming to our city and county. We can either get ahead of it and direct it, or sit back and allow a few special interests to determine our future," he said.
Martin will be running against Republican Ken Ivins, in a rematch of the contest for city finance commissioner in 2009. Ivins won that year.
